In May of 2025, I made it to the final round of interviewing for an Associate Soft Goods Product Designer role on the Pillows, Bedding and Throws team at Target.
I was tasked to work on a project that I presented in three separate interviews for the final round. The objective of this project was to design pillow, bedding, and throws for a Fall 2026 line for Target's Room Essentials brand.Â
To do so, I conducted trend analysis of past trends and trend trajectory and proposals, I developed an appropriate theme and color palette, and I justified my designs against Room Essentials mission and objectives for such a line.
I spent close to 40 hours putting this project together-- conducting wide-reaching fall decor trend research, evaluating competitive research, creating the designs in Adobe Illustrator, putting together visual mock-ups in Photoshop, and compiling all of my work into an Adobe InDesign document.
Unfortunately, I did not get the job but I gained so many new experiences in the short time I spent on this project-- one of the most notable being trend research.
By including this in my portfolio, I hope to illustrate my commitment to go above-and-beyond what is asked of me and my ability to create compelling presentations.
