As you may know from my sweatshirts page, I have made many fleece sweatshirts over the years. In particular, I have made quite a few sweatshirts from a red plaid fleece and have made one for me and my boyfriend, Will. For Christmas in 2024, I wanted to make a matching sweater for our new cat, Binx. I had enough scrap fabric from past projects to be able to pull this off.
This is a cat sweatshirt from Target that Binx already had. I liked how it fit him so I used that for the pattern. I used packing tape to sketch out the seam lines.
Once I had the sweatshirt traced onto the tape, I peeled it off and stuck it to paper. I then cut these out to make into a sewing pattern.
These are the final sewing pattern pieces. I used these to cut out the scrap fabric.
These are all of the pattern pieces once I cut them out.
This is the back piece with the sleeves attached. I hemed the sleeves before I attached them.
This is the sweatshirt with the body assembled and the bottom hemmed. The last step was to add the 12" long collar.
