This is a cartoon cat I drew for fun in 2019. I used Photoshop to draw this because this was before I knew how to use Adobe Illustrator. I definetley would not use Photoshop to draw this today, I remember this drawing being particularly difficult because of that haha!
I think that drawing is definitely my biggest weakness when it comes to design. I know that this is a skill I can learn but I feel a little insecure that this is something I don't excel at naturally. However, I do find it encouraging that digital drawing is a little bit more forgiving than drawing with regular pencil and paper. It is significantly easier to manipulate the shape and colors of a digital design which makes it a lot less discouraging than having to erase with an eraser and start over. I think I'm also drawn to this kind of artform because it lends itself to more cartoonish than realistic drawings. I always strive for realism but that is when I fall short. However, I think that cartoons and images that use few colors look really nice in this medium.
This page shows you some of the digital drawings I've made over the years. There is some overlap in theme between this page and my Graphic Design page so be sure to check that one out to.
Minneapolis Skyline
Buenos Aires Skyline
These are some skylines I've drawn. I actually originally drew the Minneapolis skyline for this shadow box project, but I have since turned it into a background for my LinkedIn profile. I drew the Buenos Aries skyline to turn it into a print for a birthday gift.
I drew this Halloween background for fun in Illustrator. I wanted to work on my graphic design skills so I made this to have something to work on. I ended up using it as a phone background for a little while.
This is a logo I made in Illustrator for the mascot of my hometown in Rhinelander, Wisconsin-- The Hodag. I made it because I was entertaining the idea of selling something at a Hodag themed fair the city hosts but I ended up deciding against it.
I drew these in Photoshop for a school project in undergrad. The assignment was to create three new emojis that represented the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is Remy the Rat from Ratatouille. I drew this in Photoshop because I wanted to make a stylized version of this particular scene from the movie.
