I got tickets to Taylor Swift's highly anticipated 2023 tour "The Eras Tour" in Minneapolis (night two in case you're wondering, 🎶Deeearrr Jooohnnn🎶). I knew I wanted to make a really fun outfit to wear to it and decided to recreate one of her red-carpet outfits. I landed on her 2018 AMA dress that is made up of hundreds of reflective squares and looks like a mirror ball. To put my own spin on it, I wanted to make it more middle-of-the-summer friendly. I opted for a two-piece outfit with a sleeveless top, a slit skirt, and a cropped version of her thigh-high boots. I made it with some help from the Cricut and a combination of clothes I sewed and bought.
I made a simple square design in Cricut Design space that would allow me to cut all of the mirror squares out.
I bought this reflective iron-on material that I cut the squares out on to.
I used my Cricut Maker to cut out the design onto the iron-on material.
When it was done cutting, I peeled off all of the excess that I didn't want in between the lines.
This part was really satisfying.
I spent a lot of time ironing the sheets onto the top I made.
I also bought a skirt (I didn't feel like making one 😪) and ironed the sheets onto it. This whole process took a long time.
Finally, I cut the iron-on material into strips and was able to iron it to a pair of black boots I bought.
Before and after. These boots were my favorite part of my outfit!
And most importantly, I had a lot of fun at the concert with my friends.
This is me with my best friend, Kaydee. Here you can also see that I used the leftover iron-on on the strap of my bag.
